Season 58 left us with a bitter aftertaste. It may sound weird after having won Vuelta de los Castillos, hitting 4240 points at max, finishing at 3500 which is my seasons best and scoring some 20 results along the way. I just can't be pleased about it.
The reason for that is that none of my main goals have been accomplished. Like a few times before we came very close but somehow the OCM Gods do not want to see us celebrate. So we are stuck now with a 2nd at Alpe d'Huez, 2nd at ZBZ, 4th at Criterium la Provence and 2nd at the World Championship in one season.
Yes you read that right, none of my mail goals had anything to do with downhilling nor tours. It marks the shift towards a full on climbing squad, a transition we slowly made after training some great riders. So far it goes pretty well with our traditional focus on tours and downhills. We are still up there in those fields, which was proven by our Vuelta de los Castillos win.
The win at the Vuelta shows that training Sergei Tereshchenko was a good call after all. Usually i deem it to be a succesful project if a trainee manages to win 1 big thing in OCM if it is in his power. For Tereshchenko it was somewhat unclear whether that would be Volta, GT or Vuelta. The answer to that we all know now, so it's likely he will make a return to Spain during S59. Though i have to admit his dominance was thanks to the OCM Gods. Maybe that was to get even for fooling with us at the classics.

Yeah Soup saw you hit second as well, probably beaten by team strenght of Stroopwafel who trains youngsters in tm stats for u23 purposes.
Know how you feel about the WC, although I've only contended once. Good luck the next season, may the OCM gods be with you.
The classic wins will come, I´ve waited for Alpe d'Huez for ages.
Great season! ...and less than a week until you can tick off one of those goals.
